The Dark Hedges

One of the most beautiful roads I’ve ever seen is this country lane in Northern Ireland - named locally as The Dark Hedges.
These trees are 300 years old and form an arch like tunnel that run the length of the Bregagh road near Armoy in County Antrim. They really do look like something straight out of a fairytale.
To view this place in the morning is amazing, you can catch a good light or eerie mist.
I visited this location regularly waiting to find the ideal conditions, but it was only on my tenth trip there that I came across this amazing light show which lasted only 10 minutes.
It was very early so I had to use a tripod and wireless remote, set the camera on manual, adjusted white balance, focus and exposure. Back home , I made minor changes to the Levels and Saturation in Photoshop, and sharpened the image .
It is a magical place I visit often, great to be there in the morning :-)

I use Canon EOS 50D + Canon 70-200mm F/4 L IS USM + Tripod.

  1. Przepiękna droga! Obawiam się, że u nas w Polsce te same drzewa nie rozrosłyby tak pięknie, zaraz by im poucinano długie gałęzie w obawie by nie spadły i kogoś nie zabiły. Bardzo inspirujące fotografie, gratuluję!
